Heart Foundation (IHF) Guidelines - Health Care Providers, for candidates working in the Health Care
System
Aim: To provide personnel involved in healthcare with the knowledge and skill to recognise a cardiac arrest, perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use an Automated External Defibrilator (AED).
Training Objectives: On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Recognise Cardiac Arrest
- Perform CPR 1 & 2 rescuer
- Use of Face Masks & Bag Valve Mask (BVM)
- Use an AED
- Recognise Choking and Treatment
- Know the steps to take to assist a choking victim
Course Syllabus:
- Scene Assessment
- CPR 1 & 2 rescuer
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Adults, children & Infants
- Use of Airway Devices
- Choking
- AED
Course Duration:
1 Day
Certification:
All successful candidates will be certified in CPR and AED through the Irish Heart Foundation (IHF). Certification is valid for 2 years from date of issue, thereafter subject to re-certification.
